The Joy of Giving

Team QC have embraced the silly season with Christmas sing-alongs – Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” and Frank Sinatra’s “Jingle Bells” have been on high rotation in the office.

One Christmas song that always resonates with me is John Lennon’s Happy Christmas (War is Over). I’m a huge Beatles/Lennon fan (thanks to my Dad) and I think the opening line of this song is really powerful, “So this is Christmas, and what have you done?” When I listen to Happy Christmas (War is Over) it gives me a chance to pause and think about what I’ve done in the past year and what I need to work on in the coming year.

This Christmas I want to focus on the joy of giving rather than receiving gifts. If you are looking for a memorable gift for a loved one that will no doubt make a huge difference in their life I’ve got a couple of great ideas for you…

  • Why not give the gift of change, with our popular NLP Certification Scholarship? For just the one-off admin fee of $97, you can give family and friends a wonderful gift that’s conservatively worth $5,291.97. PLUS…even better…you’re giving them the gift of PERSONAL POWER…the power to transform themselves and finally have the life they really want.

  • Why not help a loved one embark on a healthier, happier path in life? If you know anyone that has struggled to stop smoking you could really change their life this Christmas by booking an appointment that is guaranteed to help them Quit for good! We’ve made it super easy for you, our QUIT Directory features the very best QUIT Cigarettes in 60 Minutes specialists across Australia. You can find a specialist in your area by visiting the website: http://quitcigarettesin60mins.com/

Here’s what Barbara Houghton had to say about her NLP Certification Scholarship experience:

“I learned so many processes that can be applied so readily and easily in everyday situations, it was awesome. It made me realize how we can be carrying baggage from past experiences we sometimes don’t even know we have and how they can be released by following the NLP process.”

Barbara Houghton, Jimboomba, QLD

This Christmas give a gift that keeps on giving, it’s the perfect way to PAY IT FORWARD.

Egypt – the land of the pharaohs

A few members of the QC Seminars team have been on location over the first two weeks of December for our annual pilgrimage to Egypt, the land of the pharaohs.

We’ve had a great group come along with us and everyone is really enjoying this once in a life time trip.

Watch this space we’ve got some exciting news to share in 2012!

CLICK HERE for more information on our next trip to Egypt

Here’s what Marie Budimir had to say about her experience with us on a previous trip:

“I knew this trip was going to be amazing but my expectations were far far exceeded. Words cannot do justice to how awesome, brilliant and stunningly beautiful this tour was. We did not have to lift a finger and our accommodations were so beautiful we never wanted to leave any of them. Each day was fantastic – but every day surpassed the last. I mean, how can you improve on perfection!!! We experienced not just the magnificent pyramids, temples and places that everyone knows, but we were given a personal invitation into the heart and soul of this magnificent culture and its people. How can you go to a country on the other side on the Earth and feel so at home in every sense. We were honoured and welcomed by so many beautiful people that took care of us. The only problem was when we were asked what our favourite experience was we couldn’t decide as there were too many!!!

This is so much more than a tour of Egypt – you can get that anywhere – this is a life long love affair that has just began. I will return again and again, and I will only ever go to Egypt with this tour. Nothing else compares.”

Marie Budimir, Melbourne, VIC

We wrote about this AMAZING adventure in a previous newsletter, which can be read HERE.

NLP Definition of the Month

Tag questions a Milton model language pattern where a question is placed at the end of a statement, as in you’re getting a lot of value out of this, aren’t you? That was one, wasn’t it? They are designed to displace resistance, as both positive and negative are paced simultaneously thus displacing the attention of the listener.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing

Once upon a time… when the earth was flat (and the centre of our solar system) we human beings thought we were pretty smart cookies.

Our maps featured the Latin phrase “HC SVNT DRACONES” or “Here be Dragons”, which is now considered map shorthand for “Here be other places we currently know squat about.”

At the time we thought we we’re 100% right, and yet, with the benefit of hindsight, we were proven wrong.

We discovered that the earth is in fact round and that the sun is the centre of the solar system. This story is a great reminder that you should never stop striving to broaden your horizons. You should always be learning more whether you’re two, 32 or 102.

Neuro-psychologist, Dr Daniel N. Robinson, professor at Georgetown University offers sage advice: “If you think you’re right, look in the mirror and say three times; I may be wrong, I may be very wrong, I may be hopelessly wrong, and you’ll probably be right.”

Are you spending your time wisely?

I recently watched ‘In Time’ starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, which was based on the premise that time is LITERALLY money.

In this parallel universe, personal ambition is focused entirely on acquiring more time rather than money.

The rich can live forever yet the poor struggle to make it through the day. You have to buy everything with time – a cup of coffee costs four minutes and a fancy dinner can set you back 8 weeks.

It’s a fascinating concept.

In the book, “How to Get a Bigger Bite out of Life”, George Faddoul unravels the misconception that time is money.

“The only thing you can do with your time is spend it, so the key is… “Am I spending it wisely?”

George says that from 9-5 anyone can make a living, but it’s from 5-9 that you start your journey towards being a modern day Alchemist.

The most successful individuals work from 9-5 and then from 5-9. Now it’s not necessarily the same job. This doesn’t mean you should increase your hours at your particular place of employment. It just means that you should spend more time on YOU, on your personal growth and development. Whether you attend a training seminar, read a new book or make a decision to make a QUANTUM CHANGE in your life… remember the sky is the limit!

SUCCESS AT NLP TRAINING SERIES

The recent NLP Certification Scholarship Oct/Nov training series with QC Seminars was a great success!

Our 500+ students enjoyed learning about NLP which has been touted as the “Science of Success For The 21st Century”.

CLICK HERE for your NLP Scholarship information pack!

Here’s what our students had to say about their life changing NLP training experience:

George is amazing. He makes the concepts simple and easy to understand. Thank you so much for offering this course with the amazing scholarship – an opportunity I wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of otherwise. I enjoyed the company of the people. Real value. Real skills. Very open and easy to understand. Thank you QC Seminars! You have opened a whole new world of possibilities.

Kresant Mahkall, Homebush South, NSW

Where do I start? I’m inspired! I’m enthusiastic about my future (and my present). I’m lighter – because I’ve dumped a fair amount of baggage already and I’m planning to dump a lot more. I’m energised and empowered! The whole four days have been one of the most worthwhile I have ever spent. Thank you, Thank you, thank you!!!

Janice Hogg, Maianbar, NSW

I have a new direction and it has woken me up and I’m looking at a new business – Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes. Great intimate atmosphere and friendly. George is a great presenter and I will be recommending this to others.

Marwyn Assaf, Burwood Heights, NSW

I’ve learnt so much about myself, it’s made it all more concrete for me, and I realise I can achieve anything and everything I put my mind to. It’s given me even more challenges to play with and show the world, they can be, do, have anything they want, appreciating everything, where they are, and to have fun with all that they believe they can have. Because, after all a belief is only a thought, I keep thinking. So thank you.

Kelvin Lee Ozanne, Rushcutters Bay, NSW

It was an enlightening, revealing and educative process which I enjoyed thoroughly. I’ve also got wonderful resources in the NLP program and the 30 day action plan to progress, reinforce and practice my learning. George you are a master story teller and a brilliant teacher and your humility is inspiring. Thank you for this life changing opportunity which I treasure.

Frederick Prins, St Clair, NSW

Here’s what Sandy Barrett had to say about his trip to Egypt…

“There is no place I have been to on the planet that feels as alive as Egypt. The culture, traditions, people and landscape persists in these times of change and their stunning monuments are brilliant reminders of a time gone by. This trip gave me tremendous insights into the people, their culture and traditions; immersed me in its natural wonders and took me inside the most treasured and sacred monuments on the planet. The incomparable personalised guidance gave me the opportunity to absorb this wondrous place and this I have not experienced in all my life’s travels. Nothing could have prepared me for the extraordinary experience I had; which was the most moving of my life to date.”

EGYPT FUN FACTS

  • Standing at 146.5 metres (480.6 ft), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years, the longest period of time ever held for such a record
  • There are sketches of the Sphinx without a nose in 1737, over 60 years before Napoleon reached Egypt. Experts don’t know who defaced the monument or why but they do know how it was done. Vandals hammered rods or chisels into the sphinx and pried off its nose.
  • The heart was the only organ that was not removed when a body was mummified, because the Ancient Egyptians believed that the heart was weighed against a feather to determine whether a spirit was allowed into the afterlife.
  • In 1922, Howard Carter discovered King Tutankhamen’s tomb, which had previously rested almost entirely undisturbed for over 3,000 years.
  • The construction of the High Aswan Dam meant that Abu Simbel’s 3,200 year old statues and temples (dedicated to Ramses II and his wife Nefertari) would be underwater in the newly created Lake Nasser. So, Egypt launched a four year salvage effort in 1964 with the help of UNESCO. The temples and statues were cut in 30 tonne blocks and reassembled 60 metres higher up and out of danger.

City of Sydney Business Awards Gala Dinner

Roberta was proud to represent Quantum Change Seminars and her fabulous team, at the 2011 City of Sydney Business Awards Gala Dinner. It was a great night and we were so excited to be nominated alongside some of the best and brightest companies in Sydney. Although we didn’t win, we were delighted to be there on the night and congratulate all the winners. Roberta spoke with Clover Moore, Lord Mayor of Sydney and Lisa Wilkinson, presenter on Today, Network Nine. The entire Gala Dinner was also kept in stitches by funny man Arj Barker.

QUIT Success Story: Alwyn Balyse

“I work as a physiotherapist and I love to help people every day. But before I did the Quit training nothing I did saved lives! Now I’ve helped over 50 people quit cigarettes. Each person I’ve helped now has an extra 14 years of life, and a much better QUALITY of life. I’ve benefited too of course. I’ve had multiple $1000 days, in fact $2000 days, which I never would have done before the training. But the high point of my day is the feeling that I have helped someone who has struggled for years, finally give up! The system works I am happy to tell anyone. I was dubious, being a medical system, how could it be this easy? In fact I tried to talk myself out of doing it – too expensive, what if it doesn’t work? When I came down to Sydney I was convinced that I would ask and find. I am so glad I stayed. My life is great, helping others is great. Thanks you so much Roberta, Jamie and everyone at QC. You do an incredible job and I love being part of your quit team. If you are thinking of doing the training just do it. You’ll be glad you did!”

We’ve received such a phenomenal response to our upcoming Quit Business training (Sydney November 8 – 11) that it will soon be SOLD OUT.

In fact there are only 10 spots left at the current seminar special price, and they are about to be snapped up.

NLP Definition of the month

Future pacing is the process of mentally associating into the future for the purpose of rehearsing (either associated or dissociated) new resources being used in a future situation to ensure that the new desired outcome or behaviour will occur naturally and automatically at the appropriate time when it will be required in that future situation. It helps connect newly found resources to future cues. The author prefers to end a process with a dissociated Future pace, so that you (or your client) can literally see yourselves doing the new behaviour at the future time.

Inspirational Quotes

I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them.

But they answered: “Frighten? Why should any one be frightened by a hat?”
My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor, digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing.

I drew the inside of a boa constrictor so the grown-ups could see it clearly… “Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.”

Spring: It’s a beautiful day

Spring has officially sprung… It’s a great time of year! The days are getting longer, our winter coats can go back into storage and flowers are beginning to bloom.
I love spring! It’s the perfect time to adopt the mantra “out with the old in with the new.”

So if you want to do some ‘spring cleaning’ and rid yourself of any bad habits or limiting beliefs that are holding you back call QC Seminars TODAY!

You can secure your place at one of our upcoming trainings by calling the team on:

Imagine: a better tomorrow

If you’ve been to one of our NLP events you would know that our trainer George Faddoul is a HUGE John Lennon fan… Roberta recently bought him signed lyrics of  Happy Christmas and Beautiful Boy for his last birthday.

In 1971, John Lennon recorded “Imagine” a simple, beautiful song that inspired us to envisage a better world.

Written during the height of the war in Vietnam, “Imagine” is still as prevalent today as it was when it was first released.

Imagine Song Lyrics:

Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Recently, on The X Factor, a contest called Emmanuel Kelly moved the audience and the rest of Australia to tears with his moving rendition of this classic song.

Kelly and his brother Ahmed were adopted from Iraq, both suffering limb deficiencies as a result of chemical warfare. They were abandoned at an orphanage and rescued by Children First Foundation boss Moira Kelly.

Kelly’s performance is a poignant reminder that we must not take our good fortune for granted. This month I challenge you to think about how you can make the world a better place and take ACTION. At QC Seminars we like to “Pay it Forward” by offering our NLP Scholarship program… remember the smallest actions can make a QUANTUM CHANGE!

Accolades for QC Seminars

We have super exciting news to share with everyone…

*Drum roll please…*

QC Seminars has made it into the BRW Fast 100 – for the third year in a row! We are very proud of this wonderful achievement.

NLP Definition of the Month

Ambiguity the use of language that is vague or abstract.
The basis for the Milton Model language patterns – a word, sentence, statement or command that may be interpreted and understood in different ways.

The Map…

QC Seminars
was the email I received
An NLP scholarship
who would have believed?

How lucky was I
to find such a great deal
At 97 dollars
this truly was unreal.

But the sceptic in me
‘caused doubt in my head
“Would they be any good?”
or had I misread?

So I ignored all my doubts
and drove down on the day
Eager to find out
what QC Seminars had to say.

Getting there proved tough
for I didn’t read the map
I was following my nose
which caused me to snap

I threw up my hands
screaming out loud
“How stupid is this road,
no right turns are allowed!”

Finally I arrived
all flustered and mad
But the stress proved too much
and I felt tired and sad.

But I had arrived before time
with half an hour to spare
So a cup of coffee I needed
to help to repair.

As I was waiting in line
a lady stood behind
‘Sandra’ was her name
and what a great find!

For we hit off instantly
ending up at her car boot
Where a cuppa she made me
it was a bit of a hoot.

We continued to talk
and build up rapport
We laughed at our jokes
so we told even more.

Then the double doors opened
the seminar had begun
There was lots of energy present
full of good spirits and fun.

Roberta came on stage
and welcomed us aboard
And it wasn’t long before
her words hit a cord.

The ‘chord’ was this feeling
deep down in my heart
Where I wanted some change
but too afraid to just start?

So this NLP Scholarship
was a gift sent for free
To give me the tools
to become the best version of me.

I was in the right place
I knew that for sure
And when George came on stage
I knew even more.

George spoke from the heart
teaching us all about the mind
And with his warm and friendly smile
he was very funny and kind.

Then out popped the phrase
“the territory’s not the map”
I sat up and paid attention
‘this might help with my snap!’

But the map was not Referdex
or Navman at all
It referred to our baggage
and some kind of a wall.

Inquisitive I listened
onlearning horse ‘crap’ could be great
‘Cause it was all about your attitude
and belief in your fate.

For there were rules George told us
about the words that we speak
Creating our every experience
sometimes happy, sometimes bleak.

Then next up on stage
Dr James came our way
An American from Hawaii
his shirt a dead give-a-way.

He’d been told not to wear ‘slacks’
“it’s ‘pants’ whilst in Oz”
But no reason was given
other than “Mate, it’s just coz”.

This man had walked on fire
not once but three times
“Was he crazy?” I thought
or was his skin different to mine?

He said change was inevitable
“SHIFT happens”, Matt believed
So it was important to be grateful
for everything we had received.

I related to his ‘training wheels’
who doesn’t remember that?
A time in our lives
when we were too frozen to act.

My poker face was terrible
with my sensory acuity on cue
Revealing all my thoughts
so obvious and so true.

The anchoring was incredible
I’m sure ‘John’ would agree
His colour shift amazing
for which everyone could see.

And how about that ‘Christian’
who loved those Lindt balls
Anchovies did the trick
to knock down the walls.

Huna was my favourite
putting the body ‘just right’
Learning how to love myself
as an incredible beam of light.

So through metaphors and models
George and Matt stole the show
Opening up all our minds
teaching us all how to grow.

And their families have missed out
whilst spending time with all of us
Teaching valuable life lessons
like “who’s driving the bus?”

So a new life I have been given
an opportunity to shine
The tools are deep within
the choice is all mine.

And I’ve learnt ‘maps’ are important
the territories not the page
So I will ssswishhhh into action
before my next outrage.

I’ll study the map carefully
double checking as I go
To make sure I’m on track
to experience life’s glow.

And I will put into practice
the skills I’ve been taught
To say goodbye to those issues
which I have so passionately fought.

So thank you QC seminars
Roberta, George and Matt
Your generosity and time
I’m so grateful for that.

We may meet again
on this journey of our mind
But I’ll always remember
to me you were so kind.

I love NLP
what can I say
Thank you again
and Now Let’s Play!

Julie attended our NLP Practitioner training in Brisbane in June of this year. This is the most creative thank you letter we’ve ever received and we just had to share it!

Young Woman or Old Lady?

Take a look at this image – What do you see? Is this a picture of a young woman or an old lady? The answer is that they are BOTH there.

Have you every been in a heated debate and then an hour into the discussion you realise that your BOTH right?

This kind of thing happens all the time because we often think we know something, and if we think we know something we are not interested in listening to what the other person has to say so we can’t see that they too are right.

In the best selling book, How to Get a Bigger Bite out of Life, George Faddoul says that instead of wasting your time and energy ardently defending what you know, you should take the time to discover what it is that you don’t know.

The image above illustrates why we should always keen an open mind, because the young woman is there in the image and the elderly lady is there too.

Steven Covey says, “Seek first to understand then to be understood”. These are powerful words which go to the heart of what NLP is all about.

In one of my favourite films, Dead Poets Society, the teacher John Keating stands on his desk and proclaims to his students, “I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way.”

A valuable life lesson, I’m sure you would agree.

Success Story: Maureen Hamilton

Maureen Hamilton shared her QUIT success story with the QC Seminars team…

My name is Maureen Hamilton and I am a successful Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes Specialist based in Bald Hills in Queensland.

I heard about the Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes business training through my daughter Simone. She sent me a QC Seminars brochure, which promised that I could earn $1,000 a day by helping people to stop smoking.

At first I was very sceptical. But then I had a thought, “Well, what if it’s true?”

I know the devastating effects that smoking can have on a family – my husband died at 47 from lung cancer and heart disease.

Although this was a major tragedy for someone so young to die, it strengthened my resolve to help as many people as I possibly can to live a healthier more prosperous life.

This is why I decided to become the best Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes Specialist I can be… and to be honest it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

Most of my clients have been smoking for years – my oldest client was 76, this just goes to show that it is never too late to quit smoking and change your life for the better.

I’ve been practicing as a Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes since January 2011 and I’ve seen over 120+ clients.

I have trained as a general nurse, midwife and in the areas of mental health and children’s behavioural issues.

When I was doing my nursing training, I learned a very important lesson, “prevention is better than cure”.

It is very empowering to be able to help my clients achieve good health.

Being a part of a network of leading specialists using the most effective process available today to quit cigarettes in 60 minutes… with an astonishing success rate of 97.5% is hugely rewarding. This is a proven system that has worked for thousands of clients.

Quote

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

“Invictus” is a short poem by the English poet William Ernest Henley (1849-1903). It was written in 1875 and first published in 1888. Nelson Mandela had the poem written on a scrap of paper in his prison cell while he was incarcerated. The poem served as inspiration for the eponymous 2009 film “Invictus” starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman as Mandela.

Humour

A college student challenged a senior citizen, saying it was impossible for their generation to understand his. “You grew up in a different world,” the student said. “Today we have television, jet planes, space travel, nuclear energy, computers…”

Taking advantage of a pause in the student’s litany, the senior citizen said, “You’re right. We didn’t have those things when we were young; so we invented them! What are you doing for the next generation??”
